Pure Kitchen - Hell's Kitchen

Uncategorized May 13, 2019

A few weeks ago I met a friend for lunch and tried out Pure Kitchen located in Hell’s Kitchen.  Hell’s Kitchen has a history of itself which I will be sharing at another time!

Anyway back to Pure Kitchen.  They started out as a blog with a desire to share organic, whole food, super food recipes with people.  In 2016 they decided to open up their place on Restaurant Row (another historical area).    All of their...

The Met Gala: Camp - Notes on Fashion

nyc May 07, 2019

After writing about the Met Gala yesterday I decided to take a walk up and see if I could see anything. Well ladies and gents I got a spot right on 82nd street again the barriers with full view of the covered “Pink” carpet.

If I was to do it again I would probably head up a little earlier than 3pm and stand along 5th Ave between 82 and 83. One of the photographers said that was the ideal place to go because you can see them walking down the carpet before they hit the stairs. I...

Well the talk of the town today is all about The Met Gala that starts this evening around 6pm when the Hosts arrive. Anna Wintour is the editor and chief of Vogue Magazine since 1988 and also the artist director for Conde Nast since 2013. Ms. Wintour took over the leadership for The Met Gala in 1999.

What is The Met Gala? It is the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute Benefit. It was established in 1948 by Eleanor Lambert the fashion publicist as a way to raise money for the Costume...

BEA, say what??

nyc May 03, 2019

BEA is one of my favorite restaurants in the hood and its where the locals go!

Aside from the specialty cocktails like the Mad Hatter’s Brew and Coco Fashion, they have a great wine list and beer. The menu has Tuna Tar Guac and House Ricotta 2 of my favorites when I am splurging for appetizers. My favorites for dinner are either the Sea Bass with Brussel Sprouts and corn or the Filet with double green beans. Most times I end up taking half of it home. John the crazy healthy guy that is...

What in the world in on that ship??

nyc May 02, 2019

Seriously people! What is on that ship? I don’t know how many times I said that every time we drove down the Westside Highway. Until the first time we walked from our apartment over to the Hudson River and then I realized, “Hey, there are planes on that ship!” What I was actually seeing was the engines from those planes. LOL

This past Friday we were invited by our friends at W42nd St. magazine to the launch of their Food issue and the first of 7 Free Fridays at the Intrepid...

UGH I wish those network marketers would stop messaging me!

business May 01, 2019

Have you ever said those words? Have you ever said that about a friend who has reached out to you or someone you haven't spoken with in ages and said ugh leave me alone?

$1,082,230.55 over 8 years. Let me say that again $1,082,230.55 over 8 years and it totally has changed my families life. It started off a a side hustle and I never thought in a million years it could have turned into this. Mind you there is a huge disclaimer here. It depends on the company you are with, your products, your...

Would you take a dance class as an adult?

nyc Apr 30, 2019

How many of you love to dance? I have always love too. As a kid I used to take dance classes, as a teen I used to lock myself in my room and dance everyday after school, in my late teens and early 20’s I hit the dance clubs. As an adult every party I will be the first one out on the floor. I will let you in on a secret in my gym at our house I had floor to ceiling mirrors and I used to crank that music up and dance whenever I was in the basement. Sometimes I would be twirling or shaking...

See NYC from the water first!

See NYC from the water first!

One of the first things I tell everyone who is coming to NYC to do is a Circle Line cruise.

What is the Circle Line Cruise you ask? It is a cruise that takes you around the entire Island in 2 1/2 hours. You can learn so much about this great city from the water. You pick up the ship at the corner of 42nd and 12th Ave. I suggest taking the 1:30 cruise and getting a seat on the top floor. Wear sunscreen because it will get hot, if you do get too warm you can...

FROM GREEN ACRES TO SKYSCRAPERS

Have you ever had a thought of doing something completely insane and let fear stop you?

If you answered yes to this question you are not alone! There is one thing I have learned over the years is how to feel that fear and take a small step into it anyway. Those small steps have become huge leaps over the years.

One of the BEST huge steps I ever took was coming up with the idea to sell our family home in New Hampshire and move to New York City. Mind you I...
